Induced host resistance to a transplantable mouse glioma.

چکیده
A transplantable methylcholanthrene-induced glioma has been carried by subcu taneous transplantation in inbred C57/6 mice and grows rapidly within 3-4 weeks in almost all recipients. Immunization with glioma-adjuvant mixture resulted in inhibi tion or "rejection" of 70 per cent of tumor implants given later, whereas immunization with spleen-adjuvant, brain-adjuvant mixtures, or adjuvant alone resulted in in hibition or "rejection" of only 4 per cent of later tumor implants. Induced resistance to an indigenous transplantable mouse tumor.
Although the literature contains many refer ences to successful attempts to immunize animals against transplantable tumors, few deal with transplantable spontaneous tumors in inbred strains, and, in general, the results of these latter experiments have been negative. Aptekman and his co-workers (1-3), in a series of studies with an alcohol-soluble extract of methylcholanthrene-induced transplan...
متن کاملMouse low-grade gliomas contain cancer stem cells with unique molecular and functional properties.
The availability of adult malignant glioma stem cells (GSCs) has provided unprecedented opportunities to identify the mechanisms underlying treatment resistance. Unfortunately, there is a lack of comparable reagents for the study of pediatric low-grade glioma (LGG). Leveraging a neurofibromatosis 1 (Nf1) genetically engineered mouse LGG model, we report the isolation of CD133(+) multi-potent lo...
متن کاملO24: Functional Role of the K2P Potassium Channel TASK-3 in Glioma
TASK-3, a two-pore-domain (K2P) potassium channel, has been implicated as important regulator for the effector function and proliferation of T-cells. Interestingly, TASK-3 has also a functional impact on tumor cells. Therefore, we sought to investigate whether TASK3 modulation might have a therapeutic potential for malignant gliomas by a variety of phenotypical and functional in vitro assays mi...
متن کاملInduction of Morphological Changes of Cells by Cyclic SUMMARY A culture line of mouse glioblastoma cells changed morphologically to differentiated astrocyte-like cells when cultured in medium with dibutyryl cyclic adenosine mono phosphate and theophylline. Morphological alteration
also reported (35). Previously, we reported the establishment of a culture line of mouse glioblastoma cells with tumorigenicity in mice (30). These cells were obtained from a transplantable tumor in vivo derived in turn from a tumor induced in the brain of a C57BL mouse by methylcholanthrene (32). These tumor cells showed biochemical markers of glia cells, like C type aldolase, which is specifi...
متن کاملIncreased Notch Signaling Enhances Radioresistance of Malignant Stromal Cells Induced by Glioma Stem/ Progenitor Cells
BACKGROUND Host malignant stromal cells induced by glioma stem/progenitor cells were revealed to be more radiation-resistant than the glioma stem/progenitor cells themselves after malignant transformation in nude mice. However, the mechanism underlying this phenomenon remains unclear. METHODS Malignant stromal cells induced by glioma stem/progenitor cell 2 (GSC-induced host brain tumor cells,...
